Proper’s Relief Gauge is two tools in one.  It is a fully adjustable relief gauge and a top deflection gauge.

As a Relief Gauge – it is fully adjustable to virtually any scale length and has the addition of extension wings to increase the functionality to use on electric basses.  The adjustable feet lock in any position, for any scale length.  The relief gauge can be used to measure relief on a fretted guitar, either on the fingerboard or on the fret tops.  While prepping a fingerboard you’ll be able to read the entire neck, locate hills and valleys, diagnose twists, read fallaway and have all of the information you need to produce the perfect surface to fret upon.

The Digital Gauge has a zero memory, is re-calibratable on any surface plate or straight edge in your shop and is accurate to 0.0005″.

As a top deflection gauge, the tool can be adjusted to any size body and be calibrated to read a multitude of measurements.  Whether it is top deflection to help you project the angle of a neck during a neck reset, to read to top deflection before and after strings tension in order to choose the best saddle height, or to read the varying areas of a top to help you make your bridges fit just right, you’ll have all the information you need to make the best decisions for the guitar on your bench.

Two extensions to increase the scale length to use on electric basses
Four Interchangeable sets of round and flat bottomed threaded feet to allow for fingerboard, fret top or soundboard measurements
One flat bottomed press-on foot for the center plunger for optional fret top measurements
